How Many New Samples are Added to Population Pool for Every Generation?

Hi Robert and all,

I am currently using Octopus and would like to understand how many new samples are added to the population pool after the first the generation.

1. Assuming Evaluation Pool Size = Population Pool Size + Selected Mating Samples from the Elite Pool based on the Elitism value. Is this Assumption correct?

2. Am I correct to say that after recombination and mutation in the first generation, the existing samples in population pool during the first generation are cleared and a new set of 100 samples are then added to the population pool for the second generation? Given that the Population Size = 100 ?

Eventually I am trying to establish the total number of samples evaluated after the optimization run is completed.

Hope to hear from you guys.

Best Regards

Siong

A relatively easy way to answer this questions is to count the number of times the definition is recalculated while Octopus runs. That's what I do in my benchmarking studies.

Thanks Thomas!
