algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all

I am using mesh relaxation for a model where diffeernt areas, of the mesh are more relaxed than other areas. I have decided the best way is to use cable ties and vary the stiffness of these which would then make have an effect on the mesh. Only problem is I cant seem to change the stiffness anymore (the cables to be larger than 5000 and the mesh lower than 400) without it exploding.. any ideas please?

Hi Megan,

Generally whenever the simulation is exploding (which will happen with certain combinations of spring stiffness) you can fix it by lowering the timestep.

Try changing it from 0.01 to 0.005 or 0.001

This will slow things down slightly but it should make it stable.

You can increase the speed a bit by upping the value of SubIterations, so it calculates more physics cycles in between drawing to screen.
