Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello!

I’m a beginner in Grashopper and Kangaroo. In my project I’m trying to rotate 2 circles on the same axis while binding them with curves. During the rotation my goal is to rotate these curves together with the circles and examine the shape that the curves make together (changing the radius, the speed etc.)

So far I divided the circles, rotated these points with the Vortex command and kept them on the circles with Springs and Equalize commands. I made the curves with Catenary after the rotation. This way, the points drag the curves while rotating but can’t spin them enough to go outside the circles. (Plus after a while despite the commands, the whole movement starts to fall apart.)

I don’t know how to rotate the points on the same permanent speed, maybe I’m using the wrong commands.

I feel like I’m trying the wrong way, I would be really grateful for some guidence, how can I do it better? If I start all over again what would be the right way?

(sorry for the messy set-up in the Grasshopper file)

Could you please help me?

I tried it all over again, this time using only springforce and unary force. To make the spinning permanent I tried Hoopsnake but for some reason it only applies for one of the circles despite how I connect the command.

Can someone please help me? I would think that with this program shouldn't be this hard to make a permanent spinning, and still, I can't find the answer.

Hi Tünde,
I attempted to create this, and got it somewhat working. Notice I'm not very good at Kangaroo, so I hope someone can help you further with this thing. Still, I hope this contributes a bit. Like you, I used K1 for now.

Hi Pieter,

Thank you for your answer! Since yesterday I solved the rotation of the poits without using Kangaroo (rotation command while reseting the angle), but I'm still having problem moving the curves during the rotation, so your solution looks really helpful. I'll try to use your methods and see what happens.
