algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am attempting to make rectangle panels from a tilted grid as shown below.

I thought the easiest way to do this was to take the vertical lines - divide the first curve by given dimension and find closest point to its neighbor curve - then using hoopsnake do the same procedure shifting vertical lines. I am new to hoopsnake and having a hard time managing the data, any suggestions? Attached rhino and gh file.

Hi Dan,

Sorry but your file is saved in Rhino 5 so I cannot take a look at it..

In any case, I'm not sure I fully understand your intention here... Couldn't what you're trying to achieve be accomplished by evaluating points on a lofted surface between the curves?

Can you clarify what you're trying to achieve?

Yannis

Hi Yannis,

Thank you for your reply.

I am trying to achieve panel rectangles with 90 degree corners on a surface that is not straight. I am not sure how I could make this from a lofted surface as the horizontal surface UV grid doesn't follow the logic I want as seen below.

It is also important for me that the panel joints are lined up in both directions. It seems to me that because the vertical lines are not uniform in orientation, the only way to get rectangle panels out of them that line up would be to recursively find closest point of each vertical line to each neighbor.

Attached rhino 4 model and gh file.

Thanks for your help, Dan
