Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am currently trying to import the GEO_TIFF data into Rhino through the "Import IMG" component and I am getting the correct results, except the ocean topography, that is anything under the 0 Elevation Mark is not showing up i the Mesh generated.  I then Took the GeoTiff into QGIS to create a .SHP file of this information and can't actually Import the information from these .Shp Files.  I was Hoping to find some solution to get this ocean floor into the 3d environment.  Thanks for your time and consideration.

Regards,

Joseph

Very interesting use of the Import Topo component!  I currently have a floor of 0 set for the Z values as a way to eliminate the occasional large negative values in HGT files.  I will remedy this for the next release of Heron, but for now can you post a link to the GeoTiff you are using?  No gaurantees, but there may be a way in QGIS to shift the Z values up.

That sounds like a great solution, The problem of importing and reading this type of SHP file generated from QGIS would fix this problem too.  I look forward to your findings.  Thanks again for looking into this and I really appreciate this Plungin.

I seem to not be able to upload the files at this time, anyway to email them to you?

Is there a website source for the GeoTiff you can post a link to? Is it from USGS?

To shift the Z value of a GeoTiff, follow the tutorial on page 17 of this PDF:

Hey Brian,

Thanks again for everything. I've got it shifted and in the 3d Environment and am starting to move past the site modeling, couldn't have done it without your assistance.
