Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello everyone!

Can someone explain exactly what to do to properly install and run gHowl+Processing?

I read carefully future.org but it refers to old ghowl r49 and it seems to have different folders...

I am expecially having problems with the libraries. When I run one of the examples I always get an error from JMyron.

Well, gHowl actually works in grasshopper... it's the bridge between gHowl and Processing the real trouble.

Thanks in advance

Hello Filippo,
Have you installed the appropriate libraries in processing? In particular you need the udp library for processing installed.

Ehm... I don't know if I have installed or not the udp library.

I read that I have to put the "udp" folder found in _processing library to install into sketchbook libraries folder (processing\modes\java\libraries). And this is it.

But I don't know if this is the right folder, no one has mentioned before to go thru processing\modes\java\ in order to find the "libraries" folder.

Must I create a new folder named libraries into the empty "processing" folder that was automatically created in my documents? Is it that?

Thank you so much for your support!

Not sure where you read that.  Please read: http://wiki.processing.org/w/How_to_Install_a_Contributed_Library

Typically processing adds a folder to your Documents directory...as you say.  This is the default 'sketchbook' folder.  You should make a folder in there called 'libraries' and copy contributed library contents in there.  From the link above it seems Processing 2.0 has a utility to install libraries.

To check or change your sketchbook folder, go to the Preferences in processing.

Ok, it finally works! Thank you so much!

For any other that has problems with the libraries and expecially with JMyron I really suggest to read this discussion:

http://forum.processing.org/topic/jmyron-not-working

Processing was not able to find dependant libraris of JMyron, and the solution is that

you must copy the two dll files (DSVL.dll and myron_ezcam.dll) into the folder

Windows/System32                 if you have a 32 bits OS
- Windows/SysWOW64             if you have a 64 bits OS

Luis, thank you so much again!

Filippo
