Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am using the lastest version of GH and Geco and getting some weird results regarding the shadow and the other few things.

  1. While I send the mesh and perform EcoSolCal, it returns all the values in Wh/m2 where as my ecotect is set to kWh/m2. And for same calculation the file recieves 2 diff data 2 times
  2. Secondly after the insolation calculation, while i hit display shadow ranges the screen goes blank, withour the colors, attributes and some times the sunpath also wont show.

These are the main 2 problems i am having.

Thanks in advance. Hope to get a reply soon, My weather file and the GH def is attached here with

Hi,

Rhino has to be setup in real world units (you are using a height of 160000.000 ????)

The WH/m² is hard coded and just a feedback(we will change that in a future release)....but anyway as a professional you should always evaluate what the values are.

Further i attach a setup of a working geco file as you did some connections wrong which covers question 2.

ok.Now i get it.and yes all of the dimensions i set was in Milimeters.so the value is 160 meteres. do i need to change the rhino file units to meters and scale accordingly to make it work?

Yes exactly, rhino has to be in meter and the vales should then be adapted accordingly.

This is really important as you are simulating environmental data.

Hi, to]

i followed the instructions. but still when i hit show shadow range the screen looks like that. I have attached the images and the script again with the corrections. The rhino file is set to meters and i guess the ecotect scale will be 1000 accordingly.

Dear Avishk,

So you are talking about the preview in ecotect, which than is not a grasshopper nor geco related question. But this is what I can tell:

It is not possible inside ecotect to show both result, it is either or. To solve this you would then have to overlay it inside a graphical software.

But as you are using geco I attached the grasshopper version to request both and show it in your preview.

Thanks to] once again. This matter was not in my knowledge.

you are welcome
