Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Guys,

I'm keen to use an IP camera with the built in Webcam Video stream component of Firefly. Since IP cameras use an IP:PORT to view the live stream, it doesn't come up as a input device in windows. To solve this issue I used an IP adapter to mimic a camera input device. However, it seems as though the IP camera I purchased causes grasshopper to crash.

I was wondering if anyone is/has done a similar project that has successfully used an IP camera with Firefly Webcam stream, if so could suggest an IP camera model that I could purchase. The purpose of the project I am doing, is to have a livefeed of an area where the wireless camera is set up and use that data to develop some interesting media.

Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Danny,

Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with IP Cameras... so I don't think I'll be much help on this one.  Sorry.

Thanks for the reply!

I actually figured a way to have an IP camera register for Firefly. I used a program called "Many Cam" which surprisingly was developed with the intention of connecting multiple cameras for chat programs.

Cool.  Glad you got it working.  Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
