algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Would it be possible to add an option in GH that allows plugins to be "embedded" within a definition so that they get directly added to the component folder when other users open the file?

This would get rid of so many error messages that appear just because a user is missing a plugin. It would also increase the use of plugins in general I think as people won't be reluctant to send a def using a plugin to an office that doesn't know how to load plugins.

I hope it makes sense and that you guys will find this useful too,

Hi Arthur,

it's something I've been thinking about myself, and it probably is a good idea to do something like this. I doubt it will work for GHA plugins that require more than just the GHA file, and of course some of them are licensed and so should not be distributed.

I think it's something that will probably have to be enabled specifically by GHA developers for each GHA project, so that I don't inadvertently start copying bytes I oughtn't be.

Hi David,

Thank you very much for your reply!

How could gha developers enable this option if they wanted to?

It would be nice if a window popped-up when opening the definition warning if we want to add a gha with the name of plugin and developer. This way people opening the def would know what is happening and developers would still get credited.

GHA files provide icons and names and developer details, so they could also provide a boolean that indicates whether copying it is ok with the copyright holder.
