Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys.

I am working on a definition and I am having a problem.

Here is basic description of what I am trying to achieve:

>There is a rectangular grid (curtain wall...?)

>Each rectangle on the grid is filled with circles on a orthogonal grid, bud the radius of circles vary per panel. A spreadsheet inputs the "value" for each panel (1-10).

The idea is that behind each panel there are different spaces that require different levels of privacy.

>The Values are re-maped and scale the circles between 1.0 (max radius), and 0.1)

>On top of that, a spline that goes across adds another layer by further scaling down circles that are near it: this would force higher transparency based on sight lines out of certain spaces.

Here is one of the problems I am having:

>>> I'm offsetting edges of a Brep'd-subdivided surface, and then subdividing the inner rectangles to create a point grid in them. For some reason, I get a few "failures" where points show up as null, depending on the offset. This causes the output to have several missing circles.

If you do take a look at it, please feel free to make any comments or suggestions on other aspects of the definition as well... I am not an expert grasshopper and I most likely don't take the shortest path to the desired solutions.

I look forward to hearing your comments.

What you need to do to get the def. working:

1. set correct path to rating4.txt

2. set a spline to "curve"

Thanks!
