what is the principle of this beautiful facade?

Hi,

i'm trying to make curved facade with random openings like this.

I think it's not so hard. But i don't have that much time to finish it myself.

Can someone give me some tipps or example links about it?????

thank you so much!!!!

actually, i'm very confused about the randomness of the openings.

Maybe they used the Image Sampler to control the gap size.

i'm trying.. but maybe it's hard for 3D curved surface...right?

Try lunch box plug in , explode and "reduce " or "cull " To random openings or apply an attractor To control this openings on facade. I think it Will work for sure.

good tips, thanks :)

Random scaling looks pretty close.

wow! It seems quite close!!!

can you share the script with me please? or the link? Thank you

If so, all i need is just a attractor to control the randomness :)

Just can't figure out the last step.......

can you tell me how to get those openings on the surface?

Have a look to Formul[a]rch stuff : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z7detsbTeY0/T6cvEH-laoI/AAAAAAAAAP8/T8oAu... . However this approach uses split which makes the process slow.

I always prefer use Weaver bird . Easy, clean, faster. Have fun !!

great, that's much faster! But i've got another idea, using Loft.

I got stuck with the graft or data problem. Can you help me a little bit?? :D

I did not have particular plugin installed (the one that enabled you to create those diamond shaped panels), so used the Lunchbox instead. You can simply replace the Lunchbox component with the one you were using:
