Varying individual point spacing on a grid.

I'm trying to create an irregular grid that allows me to vary the spacing between each individual row so that all the row spacings are of different values.  I then want to populate a specific 3D pattern within the grid.

I can achieve similar to the above although it uses a regular grid with consistent row and column spacings in PanelingTools with the PT Planar grid component and then the morph3D component to populate the grid with my 3D pattern.  It's the varying grid that's causing me the problem.

Any suggestions?
