Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello dear Grasshopper-Specialists,

I´m just fiddeling around since few weeks with grasshopper, just beeing little bit used to work with given GH Definitions and doing small changes to them.

Also doing some exercises with the kangaroo physics inside GH.

I´m remaining static at the point of deepen the knowledge about Grasshopper or not, it´s depending on the possibilities of Grasshopper somehow.

So here my question:

May it be possible to use Grasshopper for unfolding 3-D shapes (including double curved surfaces and the resulting stretching oder stretch compensations according the patterns), could it be possible to write a GH Definition therefor?

Should be(come) something like the "Terraflat for rhino" - plugin (www.terraflat.com), could be much more simple, just solving that purpose of unfolding and cutting pattern making of 3-d-surfaces (double curved).

If anybody could help me with tipps, maybe existing tools, I´d be happy.

Terraflat for rhino is ways to expensive (1250 usd) for me, because just using this for nonprofit research works.

thanks a lot!
