trucated cones pattern along a geometry

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a pattern of truncated cones through all the resulting geometry. 

I've attached what I have and what I found on internet. I'd like to do something similar of what that video shows but instead of in a square grid I was trying with "populate 2D , 3D and populate geometry". It doesn't work or I don't know if I don't know how to use it properly.

Please, could someone help me with this?
