Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Good Day

I am trying to make a panelling system across a trimmed surface.

I am having difficulty distributing a UV Domain across a trimmed rhino surface. When using the isotrim battery, it shows the original untrimmed surface and divides the UV across the original untrimmed surface. How does one divide on a trimmed surface?

Help, would be much appreciated.

Regards

Fred

Hi djordje, thanks for the reply.

I looked at the other post, and they guy had the exact same problem. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the surface to operate the 'Surface from network of curves'. Rhino console gives the error:

"Unable to sort curves. Select curves one at a time"

Does this mean, I have to rebuild the surface first?

I see that now.
Your surface is far more complicated, and additionally with an opening in the middle, which makes it even more difficult.
Do not what to say, I am just a beginner, maybe some other user can help you.

Sorry.

hey  Frederich  wondering if you have found a solution for your problem cause i am facing the same i have a surface with a middle opening and it is getting divided as the original form and not the trimmed one so if you found a solution please let me know.

regards

Hi Elie,

Unfortunately not.. The issue of trimmed vs. untrimmed surface was too much of an issue. Although the topic djordje shared helped to an extent.

I think the best option is to use the original form, and once you have your divided surface, cull/trim the shape that needs to be removed from your surface.

For my problem, I ended up using the original surface and figuring it out in grasshopper..

Good Luck!

P.S. Maybe upload your file so that somebody can have a look at it?

it is ok i think i have to trim the underlaying geometry at the end ... thx anyway for your reply.
