Hi all.

I'll go right to the point: will grasshopper be, one day, open source? I'd like to use it directly with blender, that is way more useful than any other rendering program I've found (3ds, flamingo, etc). Also, it would speed up the implementation of new features.

Hi Awambawamb,

that is exceptionally unlikely. McNeel & Associates has invested a lot into the development of Grasshopper (my wages for the past 4 years is only part of it) and it is difficult to see how exactly we will benefit (and I'm talking much wider here than just monetary benefit) from making Grasshopper open source.

That said, Bob McNeel is the only person who can decide on this, so unless you're talking to him you won't get any worthwhile answers.

I can understand your point, but it's really a pity IMHO. I hope Bob (besides, not only him, but this thread is strictly related to grasshopper) will have time to consider it.
