1. Agree on a contract with your client about what they will pay you for what results, and under what circumstances the contract can be voided.

To prepare for the client's file is ready for production on a CNC machine.
Production the client takes, and the file of grasshopper remains with me.

can be two cases:
1. The design offers the client itself.
2. Design I offer.

Yes those are both options, and you'll have to decide which one you like best. And your client has to decide which one they like best, and then the two of you need to decide what payment would satisfy you both.

There really are no hard and fast rules about what is best, it all comes down on what you want, what your client wants, what they're willing to pay for and how much you want to make.

Since obviously the question is related with free-lance ("outsourced" by client) services:

1.Separate tasks: for instance (1.a) design and (1.b) code. Always do the 1.b in modules (next time etc etc).

2.Charge some fix amount for (1.a) and on per hour basis for (1.b) - within "reasonable" limits.

3.Keep in mind that one line of actual code ... requires 9 more for "predicting" oops moments. If you do things via components translate the "code" part accordingly.

4.Keep in mind that the cases that appear the easiest are in fact the nasty ones (Murphy's Law N666).
