Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

"Once the Grasshopper SDK has settled down we'll
probably release some documentation, example code and wizards for
creating custom components, but this is months away at the very
earliest. "

That's the best info i could find about custom components. I know this will probably be over our heads for most of us, but I haven't seen anyone yet post custom components and many people are asking for features that would only be available with them, specially new triggers for updates on the definition (I understand custom assemblies don't solve this problem, i may be wrong). It would be nice to have a very simple template that's ready to be compiled in visual studio. Nothing serious or official, just something for the anxious that points us in the right direction.

i second that :)
I'm reading this fellas. I've been working on a document explaining how to make your own components, and I'll release that once I've made the final changes to the DataTree logic. Anything you write now will almost certainly become invalid when a new version of Grasshopper is released.
that's good news indeed. can't wait actually. thanks!
At this point, the core code is still changing fast and I don't think it will be useful to put together a template for custom components without being able to support it. I had an early version of custom components built for PanelingTools (so it is possible and it was relatively straight forward), but the project stalled because nested arrays or trees were not supported at the time. I'll probably get back to this project in few months and I plan to document the process and make few examples available to hopefully help others.
