algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everybody,

I am having a problem splitting a cone with a curve. If the curve is intersecting the start/end of the cone, it's giving three surfaces as a result instead of two.

If I try to join the two small resulting surfaces (blue and green), I get an open brep instead of a trim surface.

I think as the parametrisation of the surface is not continuous (trying to join starting UV
with ending UV), the two surfaces can't be join as one unique surface... (is it?)

Is there a way to join these two without rebuiding it (it has to remain developable)?

Thanks,

Sylvain.

Slight rethink,

How about, if you have some idea of where you are splitting would be to either rotate the input base Plane for the cone though 180 say so the seam is on the other side.

Another more complex option is to look at is align the plane perpendicular cutting crv at its mid point.

Thanks Matt,

the link file was more to show the problem, in the end, i would like to work with any curves on the surface, meaning some would intersect the seam. The rotate of the cone is indeed our current solution.

I didn't get the last one.
