I want to write a definition to achieve a gradient transition from the left side of the image (more darker grey squares) to the right side of the image (more lighter grey squares), please refer to the image below. How should I modify my current definition to achieve this effect?

I assume that you want a fixed number of colours, rather than a smooth gradient where the brightness for each square is computed rather than picked from a pre-existing palette. See if the attached works for you:

For your case of a left-to-right gradient, just put a single line along the left edge of the grid.

Oh wait... this is easier:

You can replace the entire group with the [Longest List] component and then remove the [Shortest List] component.
