Spatial deform vs. Surface morph

I want to a curved surface with circles in it,similar to this one in the photo.I tried the Surface Morh but it works with UV cordonates and for this reason it deformes the the circle in a strange way.The result I am trying to get is similar to drawing a circle on a paper and than wrap the paper around a curved surface.I saw this kind of result in the Spatial deform component but I don't know how to make the surface take the form of another surface.
