smooth cut off value list

dear community,

 I getting stuck trying to build a "smooth-cutoff-logic". Basically it should do the following: a number range from eg. 0 to 10000 should be limited to 5000, but with the ability to specify a start value e.g. 2000. Before this value the number range shouldn't change and after this value the remaining values should smoothly and slowly approximate the limitvalue (5000). I've been trying all day- maybe somebody has an idea how to tackle this :-)

Mathematicians here may shudder at resorting to a geometric solution, but here is one anyway:

Of course, there is a 'Graph Mapper' solution, provided that you're satisfied with that UI, and with no ability to set explicit values ("40%") so lacking in precision, and having to handle 'ReMap' before and after.
