SetData using param name busted...?

I like to use the DA.SetData("NameString", whatever) method rather than indexed just to help with coordination between parameters and GetDatas and SetDatas.  GetData works fine indexed or named.  SetData works indexed but doesn't seem to find the parameter name using named access.  Error pops up when I load the component into Grasshopper. Suspect name lookup is only checking the input parameter manager and not the output.
