Rhino undermining Grasshopper - David

Hi David and everyone else who finds this of some interest.

Me and Gerard Petersen have posted this on the Rhino newsgroup but I think its important to post this here as well as it affects the predictability of a grasshopper definition.

Rhino automatically merges a poly curve into a single curve if the curvature is smooth enough and it is manipulated. Now Simplify curve in Grasshopper can solve this problem to a certain degree (pun intended), but not always, for example where there were two straight lines joined and manipulated. Rhino has similar behavior on surface in certain instances.

In general this doesn't sounds like a big issue but in future (or the problem I sit with right now) delivering a Grasshopper file to a client based on set geometry and then Rhino changes that geometry automatically is a problem.

It just comes down to no Grasshopper definition can be consistent if Rhino automatically changes stuff in the background.

Maybe I'm wrong.
