Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am new to grasshopper and am thinking of putting together a rhino plugin which uses grasshopper as the back-end and only shows the user input boxes/sliders to edit the model.

Is this possible and how would I protect the plugin from being read.

thx Keith

Hi Keith,

Anything is possible with Grasshopper*

It sounds like you are after Clusters. Any GH definition can be "compacted" into a Cluster and Password protected.

Use the Cluster IN/OUT components located on the Param Tab > Util Panel to define the I/O to your cluster

and select everything, press the spacebar, and select cluster located at the top of the radial menu.

To password protect right click on the cluster and select the option from the context menu.

I would have a read of David's blog about obfuscation before you do: http://ieatbugsforbreakfast.wordpress.com/2011/10/03/obfuscation-fe...

* except somethings

Grasshopper exposes a RhinoScript COM interface (which can probably be used from a .NET language as well) that allows you to open and solve GH files. That may be a way to approach this.
