Repelling Horizontal Lines Vertically from Points

Hey all, I'm trying to repel a series of existing horizontal lines vertically from points, and was wondering what the easiest way to do this is.  This is a bigger part of a longer script I've been working on, located here:

I've been struggling with wrapping my head around trying to use point attractors/repellers on things that are not other points, so if there is a guide about this that I may be missing, any further advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance,
