algorithmic modeling for Rhino
This is my first attempt at using grasshopper and although I am exceptionally happy with the results (so far (and easily pleased)) no matter how much forehead I leave against the studio wall, I cant resolve a few things:
The basics of the project are:
-that a series of points can be triangulated, from these vaults are formed,
-these at a later date will respond to a series of attractor points to give height (this I have some control over in another model.)
-The initial points must remain free, as I am still working on the vehicle pattern that governs them.
- The vaults come up from intersections made from a circle at the point to allow for structure and water volume that will be supported above the vaults.
The problems that I can see: (you'll probably see a lot more)
- The process of making one vault seems a little convoluted, however it's the most simple solution I can find to retain control.
- Copying everything and relinking the points again seems a little crude, time consuming and very bulky...
- When I relink the points there are anomalies that I am yet to understand, however I think it has something to do with the ordering process. When the points are moved augmenting the triangle, the vault is deformed. (shown in second picture)
- Another problem is that in relinking, something happens and the lines linking the curves no longer follow the pattern, meaning the surfaces are disrupted. (highlighted in yellow)
Anyway, I've probably made things a lot less understandable with my ramblings...
Any help at all, even just pointing me in the direction of a similar problem would be HUGELY appreciated... I am going a little nuts here.
Thanks for reading this far,
ED
