Reorder panels on panelized surface

I'm working on a grid shell and have panelized my surface into lots of triangular panels. After doing a number of operations on them, the list of panels (breps) are no longer in any particular order. Conceptually, it is roughly a dome and I'd like to number the panels sequentially around each hoop.

How would I go about reordering the list of panels based on location on the dome?
