Regarding having dynamic data base.

I want to know if there any system where i can have a data base like excel sheet where the content is accessed multiple times in a single process.. for example. lets say i have a gird of squares.. each grid has some five attribute(4 x edge conditions, the state of the square). so write a algorithm where a pattern of different squares in the gird based on existing edge condition..so when one square is placed the data base of attribute changes for next square to be placed.. so there will be lot of option in pattern can be created.. keeping this pattern formation opened and choose the pattern based on best fit condition using Galapagos ... am just thinking of algorithm for this problem but couldn't imagine when one pattern itself formed using condition and loops..how will i generate so many option and run in Galapagos...??? let me know if any one need more information./
