random reduce non-consecutive items

hello everyone and good day/night, depending on where you are

i have a list of points, which i want to randomly reduce another number of points from. the only problem is the random reduce component will often remove two or more consecutive points, but i need the points reduced to be non-consecutive. any ideas on how this is possible?

i found a definition from david rutten (thanks david) which shows how this is possible, however, i cannot plug my original series of points into it so i am unable to make it work for my definition, and the logic of his definition evades my amateur grasshopper knowledge...
