Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all

I am quite new to GH know most basic components.

I need to make a random grids on series of towers that act as structure, like below.  At the bottom of tower the grids are more dense and it becomes less as gets higher.

I wouldn't know where to start, any help or ready sample files available would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hey Peter

you have been Awsome, I know it seems pointless and stupid from engineering point of view,

It should be good enough for my experimental study I am 'trying' to do.

Had an hectic day today, so wasn't able to download the files any earlier, finally I have some time now to see what happens.

Thanks for your time..

Update:

1. great(?) progress(??) is achieved with regard the gh thing (random points across the (column) edges at intersections between column axis and floors merged with random points inside a controllable "domain" - see 1a part of that gh thing) - more in a while.

2. I've modified an existing old 3d WIP thing to match your case (that real-life node "trivial" matter - I'll post here soon something that Rhino can(?) translate(??)).

3. So..in an ideal world

(a) DURING the GH definition...you should collaborate with your structural department in a continuous "both ways" schema

(b)  PRIOR any fixed GH definition...you should create a collection of "generative" 3d nodes (fully parametric "slave" things that are driven by master parameters as regard angle/size/cats/dogs/you/me/etc) and place numerous instances of these "components" according a suitable wireframe arrangement (GH can do that). Obviously something like Tekla could control node construction details. Exactly the way that CATIA works to be honest.

That's the only way to do that type of stuff.

Racha -

That diagram looks good kind of what I am aiming to do.
