algorithmic modeling for Rhino

RAM consumption goes up and down while processing data

I have 16GB of RAM and while processing a large set of data, the consumed RAM start increasing from 1.8 GB to 2.7GB and falls back to 1.8 and start over again. Can someone explain why this is happening?
