Question about the correct way to tackle this

Hey everyone,

Ive got a bit of free time on my hands and wanted to play around with gh. I stumbled upon these two pictures.

And I wanted to know how I can recreate either one of these in rhino and GH. I assume their definitions are almost the same? Thought it might be something with a sphere and using a 3d flow to create curves and use points to place the rectangles?

For any help Id be very grateful.
