Projecting l-system onto object/curved surface

Hi there, 

i've created a curve in grasshopper using an l-system. I want to take this geometry and project it or map it onto another surface to make it look like the 'plant' or l-system is growing up the surface.

Can anybody help me out? I've tried using map to surface, surface morph and project but can't seem to get these to work. I may be doing these wrong.
