Project to surface to create skeletal frame

Hi there,

I am attempting to simply project a pattern onto a surface in order to create a skeletal frame. I have tried to use the project and bounding box algorithm previously mentioned in discussions however the geometry I am attempting to project onto is in 3-dimensions not a square form and the resulting projection stretches incorrectly. I have seen that there is a paneling plugin for grasshopper but I am unsure how to use this or even if this is the best way to do it? I have a attached the geometry and diamond pattern I am trying to project as well as a simple test on a basic geometry to show what I am looking to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
