Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I just used Solid Difference Component on two breps, the one in the red is imported from rhino and then joined by Solid Union Component, the one in green is created in grasshopper using Rectangle-Extrude-Cap Components and then joined by Solid Union Component, clearly there is a major part of Green Brep that should be the result of Solid Difference...instead its giving nothing, is this a bug or some problem with the approach?

Hi Khizer,

This is a tolerance issue. I finally found a chance to look at the files and its a simple fix.

Change the settings in Rhino (as Grasshopper references the Rhino Document to get its tolerance settings) Tools>Options>Document Properties>Units>Absolute Tolerance from 0.01 to 0.1. In the Grasshopper Definition reconnect the wires to the Boolean Components and you should see the results you're after.

Thanks Danny, this makes life so easy, since the only way around this one for me seemed to be the breakdown of whole Boolean process into intersection, trimming and joining again... and now i think it wouldn't have worked that way too... since the tolerance would have been the same even if i did...

Hey Danny,

Came across another solid boolean issue, it's union this time and i tried changing tolerance and reconnecting the component... but no success... although all the boxes are overlapping...
