Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

I have a problem when projecting the curves of a subdivided surface with grasshopper onto a geometry created in rhino.

The idea is to subdivide a designed geometry into elements of 1000mmx1000mm for further manufacturing. When subdividing the bounding box of the geometry into elements, the projected curves do not project correctly onto the Brep.

When having the surface subdivided into U and V= 2, the projection works fine. When subdividing with U and V = 3 or higher, some curves are not projected. See picture which is attached.

Besides, there is an error in the rounding of the legth of the subdivision. See comment in grasshopper file.

Can someone help me to solve these two problems, because I cannot find the right solution.

Thnx in advance!

Mitchel

You can download the lunchbox. Worked great for your sample.

Of course you can only use Grasshopper components

Method 3.  Look to file.

Thnx valentin for your reply!

However, my problem is still not solved.

The idea is to subdivide a flat surface into squares of maximum 1000x1000mm and to project these curves on a brep (curved surface). I do not want to divide the curved surface directly in squares of 1000x1000mm because the curvature of the Brep means that the squares in top view are not 1000x1000mm. Do you understand?

That's why I project the curves at the brep. However, the lines are not projected correctly when a subdivision of 3 for u and v is used.

Can you, or someone else, tell me what is going wrong?

Check please I am repeir your defination

Thnx Valentin!

Sorry, maybe it is a bit stupid of me but I still got this result with your latest version of the script (check attachment). The script is still not functioning with a closed projection of the lines onto the surface. Are the curves closed in your grasshopper version?

Or is it just a bug in my version of grasshopper that it is still not working?

Try again Rhino file

Grasshoper file

It is not bug. Download latest file and carefully examine my definition.

You need play with tolerance value.
