Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am trying to create a definition that will allow me to model a curtain wall system with no input other than a single surface.

I'm a total newbie, but this just doesn't seem right.... last time I was working on the file everything was fine, but I just opened it up, and the point grid, which is generating the geometry is no longer constrained to the boundaries of the surface (which is the Brep object driving the definition.

You can see in the screenshot that the surface is plugged directly into the Grid by Domain Number component from paneling tools plugin... and the points are appearing external to the surface.

I simply can't figure out why the grid is appearing outside of the surface.

I have attached a screenshot and the definition.

Also, I'm looking for advice on how to construct the mullions. I essentially need the Pipe function, but with a rectangular profile that I can control. I've tried a couple strategies I found in the forum but I can't get it to work. Basically I need to turn the "wires" generated by the paneling tools plugin into solid rectangular prisms. Sweeping doesn't work, and you can check out the definition for my latest attempt using the "curve frame" component with rectangle, to sweep each wire, but I they don't line up properly.

I appreciate any help!

Thanks!

Hi Stefan,

I can not open your .gh file, as you seem to be using the plugin I do not have installed.
Before applying your surface into "Surface" grasshopper parameter, try running the following command in Rhino:

ShrinkTrimmedSrf

After that select your surface, and press right-mouse click.

As for the mullion issue, use the attached component to pipe the curves with different cross-sections.

Thanks! Both work perfectly.

Much Appreciated!
