algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey,

this is my first post.

I've being searching the forum and came up with no answer. I'm trying to achieve a triangulation like shown in the attached picture. (building: the bow, calgary, canada) I've managed to create the series of points according the the height and number of floors I set. The photo will speak for itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Julien L

This is one way:

  1. Create a triangular grid on the ground
  2. Trim it to a rectangular boundary
  3. Map it from the clipping rectangle onto a surface
  4. (I had to do use a [List Item] and [4Point surface] to rotate the surface otherwise the mapping was sideways).

Thanks David,

Unfortunately I dont think this method would work for my project. I attached the GH file.

I'll try to break it down.

I have a parabola which I can divide into straight segment. I can choose the number of segments. This would consequently affect the number of vertical division in the triangulation. I can then choose the number of floors I have and set a distance; which would affect the height of the triangulation. Ideally I would need to be able to choose at what floor I would want to triangulate. I another word, every floor, every 2 floors, every 3 floors and so on.

The pattern or triangulation would really vary depending of the number of segment that my parabola is divided, the height of the floors as well as setting the increment for the triangulation.

Hopefully my question is now clearer.

Cheers!

you may want to try the "LunchBox" plugin, Easy way.
