Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello everyone,

i'm a 2nd year student in Middle East Technical University. For one of my compulsory courses i need to create a Geodesic Dome, and a pattern on it, using Grasshopper. I also have to make its physical model using only laser cutter and cardboard, nothing else, so i should make it as a puzzle (with key and lock relationship). I don't want to be misunderstood, i don't ask it to do plagiarism so if you explain it with a visual (like a video) i can create it myself :) I need to do this final assignment in like 48 hours, so it would be great if you could help me as soon as possible.

Thank You all in advance. All the members have a good day :)

How long have you had this assignment?

Delaunay meshes are a great way to make triangulated meshes / surfaces.  I'd split a sphere and mesh it with the delaunay module.

Here how to use geodesic curve component http://vimeo.com/album/2282897/video/60604978 and for fabrication look for waffle system.

Then comeback and show us what you did...

Thank you all for your answers. It has been like 3 weeks but our educators changed the rules like 4 or 5 times and we had other finals too. I got somewhere while trying. I added the file here. But i can arrange it as only 20faced (which is not smooth enough) couldn't make it 32 faced. And i also couldn't have a pattern on the surfaces (both on the sphere (The smaller triangles in the bigger ones) and the puzzle like parts on the ground which will go to the laser cut).

Seems like a tough assignment for 48 hours.  Here's what I was able to do.  Good luck.

Thank you all for your helps and answers :) I couldn't project the pattern on the dome; but i added them to the development of it and cut it :D i hope i will get a good grade. Thank you once again :) Have very nice days..
