Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am a little disappointed that the planar surface component doesn´t work like the used icon is promising.

The icon shows a bunge of curves and lines which are overlapping at the end. Of course they need to be planar, but in GH it does not work with overlapping curves.

Is there a trick to activate this function? I hoped this component will work similiar to the "boolean" curve in Rhino which creates a closed curve based on a bunge of overlapping curves - no matter if open or closed.

any tips or workarounds are welcome....

thanks

Felipe.

thank you so much! I'll test your definitions this Sunday, I'm sure that it'll help me to understand many errors =) If I do something different I'll post it here, TKSS!

You're welcome. The logic is the following: you have three polylines, the original polyline, the polyline out (offset) and the polyline rotated.

Forms a plane with points 1 and 2 of the outside polyline and point 1 of the original polyline in both directions, the intersection of these planes will give you a new line. Forms a plane with points 2 and 3 of the outside polyline and the point of intersection of the new line in both directions, the intersection of these planes will give you a new line ...

The disadvantage of this definition is that you have to copy and paste this part for each "floor" that you have

Felipe, do you know why are this curves not planar? I only used the Project component despite being the wrong way cause the result is not equal as the original curves, you know? Could you take a look? I was trying to make a layout for lasercutting.

How about this solution..

Hi Jissi,

this solution works great and the idea behind is really brilliant.

Just another example for the powerfull pathmapper.

Thank you very much.
