Pine Cone Pattern

Hi All, 

I am working on a handle that has the shape and pattern of a pine cone. I am capable of modeling the simple eliptical handle, but I am not sure how to apply the knurling on a shaft using Grasshopper.

I know that I might be able to draw a knurl pattern and flow along curve (without Grasshopper), but is there a more efficient way with Grasshopper?
