Paneling an irregular object

I am trying to panelize this object, but i came across two issues: 1. the end caps became spheres instead of connecting to the main body; 2. the intersection of the legs are not connected. I found out remodel the end caps by rotating the component spheres in the rhino model is a way to solve the 1st problem, are there any other way?
