Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am trying to get some surfaces oriented on other surfaces but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

My definition works on spheres but not sphere like surfaces. The result I am looking for is in an attached image.

How come the orientation doesn't work for the other surfaces? The surfaces that should be oriented get places in positions without surfaces or off in some far position.

I have tried fixing this by making a new surface by sweeping, by rebuilding, by reparametrize and by shrinking trimmed surfaces but none of these worked.

Since I am new to Grasshopper I lack technical info about why it only works on the sphere.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, I think you need to use "surface Closest Point' first, before you Evaluate Surface. The 'point' that Evaluate Surface is looking for is the uv coordinate of the closest point.

Thank you Ethan!
