Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey all,

I made a post earlier about using Galapagos to develop an optimised floor plan based on attractor points. I have got that completed which can be seen by the sections that are grouped. The bottom and top floor plan are determined by minimising the distance between the centre points of the square and the attractor points, while still making sure they stay within the site area.

The issue im having now is with how i want to optimize the top floor plan. At the moment it is set to minimise the distance between the squares and the attractor point, but what i want to happen is; set up a mesh ray so that the line-of-site isn't obstructed by the large prisms (this will later represent other buildings). The idea being that the top floor squares will move around and position themselves in such a way that the meshray reaches the circle perimeter without being obstructed by the prisms.

The main problem I am having is with determining a vector for the meshray. I dont want it to be set on the x or y axis, i want it to be flexible and have a full 360 degree of range so that  the squares position themselves in the most optimal position.

Hopefully this is all makes sense. In my head i know what i want, just not sure if its possible, or if im explaining it properly

Thanks
