Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I have a quite extensive Grasshopper model created in 8.4. I’ve upgraded to 8.66 and it now locks up on opening with no messages. An older version, created with 8.1 is OK. I’ve tried Grasshopper 9 and the same thing.

Any ideas how to get an old Grasshopper version (I should have saved it) or how to debug the problem.

I’ve attached file the model if that helps. It needs no base Rhino file. Roof%2016.zip

Thanks in advance if you can help

Interesting - it doesn't lock up for me at all. I've attached a version 9 file - maybe you'll be able to open this one without any trouble?

Also, in order to get it actually working, you're going to have to do a lot of fixing of all those path mappers - data tree logic in 9 is substantially different.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks a lot for your help with this. I can open it now with v9. I don't what was wrong.

There seems to be less "tree layers" in the data now so I need to remove the extra zeros from the mappers, but that's OK now that it opens.

Is there help and what components have changed in terms of creating extra layers.

Thanks again

Dean

For future reference when experiencing something like this again. You can disable the solver before opening files. Either go to the Radial menu and click on the Padlock icon or from the Solution Menu select Disable Solver. This will allow you to open a definition without having anything processing which will allow you to disable some or all of the components before running the solver while you debug it.

Thanks for that. Helpfull to know.
