Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm working through an unfamiliar code including clusters and try to comprehend and possibly debug it.

Now that I opened a cluster the objects created within the GH script disappear.

This makes comprehending and debugging the code (contained in the clusters) real hard.

Is this meant to be this way or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

At the moment this is the way its meant to be.

If you want to run it so that the data passes through the components you will have to open the cluster, copy all the components within and then close the unnamed definition and paste the components into you original definition and then hook up the correct wires from the cluster to its corresponding input.

Clusters are still heavily under development, but no further work on them is scheduled until after David's touring.

that's what I'm doing at the moment.

I hope this will be changed in future releases as this seems real crucial to me.

thx.

Yep, I think clusters are potentially one of the most exciting and powerful things in GH. Think Power Copies in CATIA or generative smart families in REVIT. It woudl be great to also make a searchable library of a users clusters.

In the cybernetics and mechatronics engineering community where I'm from this whole 'black box' and 'interdisciplinary system components' thinking is a real big deal.

Without being pretentious or so.. When I first used GH it reminded me of MATLAB/Simulink

or dSPACE

except the audience and their applications heavily differ.

I think many concepts found in Simulink could be transferred or adapted to GH when it comes to (mathematical) structures and algorithms.

Thanks
