object to surface?

I have been looking in to the basics of grasshopper & now I would like to step it up and do something for a project That is different aesthetically from the the above but technically somehow similar.

I would very much appreciate ideas and input on how to do/ start up on something similare to the above. Just to help me get started or somehow having an outline on how to approach this challenge?
