Newbie

I am attempting to make a "privacy screen" out of bamboo poles and flat cut connectors. I am physically able to create this, but I would like help coming up with a code to make this parametric. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to make my vertical lines weave in and out of the connectors. And also trying to figure out how to make the connectors vary in size based on how the bamboo lines intersect them. I have attached a photo of how I'm thinking this wall will turn out. Thanks for any advice!
