Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

New to GH: how can I save gh files in .iges or .3dm?

Hi! I am very impressed with the gh possibilities, great work!

There is something I don't get though: when I close gh I end up having nothing in my Rhino file and I can't seem to be able to export in .iges from the gh window.

My goal is to integrate the shapes I created in gh into another Rhino file containing nurbs entities, to ultimately export that in .stl for 3D printing.

I have Rhino4 so I downloaded the «old» version of gh and it is not clear to me wether what I have installed is a shareware, or an evaluation version of something I should eventually buy to be able to save, etc.

I'd like that to be clarified as well.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Simon,

Grasshopper geometry doesn't exist in Rhino, it's all stored inside Grasshopper. If you want to transfer your geometry from GH into Rhino, then you need to 'bake' it. At that point it becomes 'dumb' Rhino geometry. You can bake using the Insert key (works on all selected objects) or via the Bake menu option of each individual component.
